2003 Reserve Langhorne Cabernet

Harvest Date: April 2003

Bottling Date: April 2005

Release Date: June 2006

Grape Variety & Region:
Cabernet Sauvignon, Langhorne Creek (South Australia)

Cellaring: 4 to 12 years

Winemaker's Notes:

The wine was fermented in open vats allowing maximum contact with the grape skin and then matured in new American barriques for a period of 20 months. This is a full bodied luscious Cabernet, with layers of flavour and complexity. Wonderful scents of cigar box and vanilla coffee beans are rounded off with flavours of ripe plums and cassis with just a hint of dark cocoa chocolate and a lingering, slightly dry, but smooth finish.

Drinking Recommendation:

A mouth filling wine to be best enjoyed with full flavoured foods such as game or grain-fed beef. However, the natural ripeness of flavour allows this wine to be enjoyed with a variety of foods. My suggestion? A rolled fillet of young Lamb crusted with mint, rosemary, olive oil, lemon, a touch of coriander and sea salt grilled quickly... pink inside with steamed Asian vegies … mmm “Langhorne Lamb”!!
